Our corn is being cut, and the whitewings are pouring into the fields by the thousands. Each one of our fields is holding anywhere from 3,000 to 7,000 birds. I have had other outfitters call me and tell me they have never seen the numbers of birds that our fields are holding. So grab your gear, and head down to San Antonio for some outstanding whitewing hunting.

Bird and Field Update

From the desk of Guide Robert Trotti

Hello Hunters,

Well hunters, as we prepare for the season start in just 7 days, we find our fields in excellent shape. The corn has been cut and the birds are feeding in our fields. I feel we dodged another bullet last week while we had some rain we didn't have any severe weather. As some places around San Antonio had flooding and severe storms that moved their birds out.

Our bird numbers continue to get better everyday. Let's all hope that we get no severe storms, so we can have excellent hunting.

Looking forward to seeing all of you.

Robert

field update

From the desk of Guide Robert Trotti

Hello Hunters,

Well we're in final countdown until the season starts in only 31 days. Our fields are in very good shape. We dodged a bullet with Hurricane Dolly, but we got much needed rainfall (approx. 4 inches). We also avoided strong winds that would have damaged the crops as well. The corn should be cut in about 3 weeks, and the farmers also said their going to cut a couple of test strips in the corn fields. This should really start attracting more birds. They are seeing lots of birds moving each day groups of 50 - 100 birds flying all around just waiting for the buffet line to start.

The milo should be cut next week, so this should hold the birds until the corn is cut. Once again, this year is shaping up to be a great time to take to the fields. With gas prices starting to fall, pack up and come on down.

Check back next week for more updates.

Dove Update

From the desk of Guide Rob Trotti

Well Hunters, only 48 days until opening day of dove season. I just wanted to give everyone a field and bird report. While talking with the land owners this week for our Central Zone property, I got a very promising report that all the corn is in very good shape from recent rain, and is on schedule to be cut in the middle to end of August, which is just what we want (lots of fresh corn for birds). Our milo is also looking real good as it is attracting whitewings by the hundreds (that number will be sure to grow). The tanks in our creek area got some much needed replenishment and with the heat are holding thousands of doves. This is looking like another banner year for whitewings. Our South Zone property is in Lytle and is 300 acres of irrigated corn which is looking very good and on schedule for harvest. With gas prices at a record high, I suggest truck pooling, load as many of you in one truck, car, SUV as you can legally, and come on down to San Antonio to experience some great whitewing hunting. Thanks all. Hope to see ya'll soon.

More posting to come.
